As one of my first blog readers, I want to personally thank you for stopping by and remind you to check back often for my musings on the environment, life, and frogs. A great combination, don’t you think?
This website has been a long time coming. I’m sure there are more than a few frustrated people wondering if I would ever get this off the ground. But I never doubted it for a minute. When I painted the first one on a river rock, I just knew big things were coming.
So just what is Schneblie™ all about, and how did we get here?
In 2001 I began painting and selling Schneblies™. The idea came to me after a “girl’s trip” to Mexico in 1997.
The Oaxacan carvings were for sale everywhere and they inspired me…then one hot day in the desert I drew a whimsical character on rock, and I wondered who exactly he was. The Universe answered and told me I was onto something. And so I began to paint lots of them, and sell lots of them. I created golfer Schneblies™, surfer Schneblies™, lots of different kinds. People went bonkers.
I heard comments like, “They make me smile,” “They’re so cute and happy.” They inspired great little conversations and I got requests for more like a Hockey Player Schneblie™ and a Disc Jockey Schneblie™. Then I thought, maybe Schneblie™ can remind people that the earth is going to hell in a hand basket unless we all pitch in to make a difference.
My journey has been filled with lots of due diligence, creative bursts and, well, distractions because sometimes things just…..take time!
But even with all life’s “distractions,” I never gave up.
I started to share the story about how Schneblies™ could be perfect little reminders to live lighter on the Earth.
By 2008 I was finally in a position to self-fund my Schneblie endeavor and it was among the best decisions I have ever made.
So here I am 15 years after nurturing that seed of an idea. And you’re visiting this brand new site and blog that was launched on my 63rd birthday. I dreamt big, and I never gave up on my passion.
I truly believe Schneblies™ can put smiles on everybody’s faces while supporting organizations that work to protect the environment. I am living proof that dreams really do come true.
Let me hear from you! I’d love your feedback!
